Diogo Costa Transfer News: Chelsea Eye Porto Goalkeeper
Chelsea have identified Porto's Diogo Costa as their top goalkeeper target, with talks between the clubs advancing. Elsewhere, Nottingham Forest are considering a £55m move for Manchester City's Tijjani Reijnders, Folarin Balogun has been offered to Tottenham, and Trabzonspor are closing in on a deal for free agent Mo Salah.
Chelsea step up move for Diogo Costa
Chelsea have made Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa their priority target this summer. Talks between the two clubs are said to be moving forward.
The Blues are looking to strengthen their goalkeeping options under Xabi Alonso. Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen have both had inconsistent spells at Stamford Bridge, and the club want a clear upgrade between the posts.
Costa, 26, has spent his career at Porto and has established himself as one of Portugal's first-choice goalkeepers. He has a release clause in the region of £51m to £60m, depending on the report.
Chelsea are not the only club keeping tabs on him. Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid have also been credited with interest, though Chelsea are currently viewed as front-runners.
No formal bid has been submitted yet. Chelsea are expected to weigh up their options over the coming weeks as the transfer window continues.
Nottingham Forest target Tijjani Reijnders
Nottingham Forest have emerged as suitors for Manchester City midfielder Tijjani Reijnders, with a fee of around £55m mentioned in reports.
Reijnders joined City from AC Milan last summer but found first-team opportunities harder to come by as the season went on. He is contracted at the Etihad Stadium until 2030.
Forest manager Oliver Glasner is keen to add more control and quality in midfield. Newcastle United and Juventus have also been linked with the player, though Forest are said to have moved quickest.
City would look to make a profit on the fee they paid for Reijnders last year if a deal goes through.
Folarin Balogun offered to Tottenham
Tottenham have been offered the chance to sign Monaco striker Folarin Balogun, according to reports. His representatives are understood to have approached the club directly.
Balogun came through the Arsenal academy before joining Monaco in 2023. He scored 19 goals in all competitions last season and impressed for the United States at the World Cup.
Tottenham are looking for competition and cover for Dominic Solanke up front. Arsenal retain a sell-on clause from Balogun's original departure, so they would benefit from any transfer fee agreed.
Monaco's stance on a sale has not yet been confirmed publicly.
Mo Salah closing in on Trabzonspor move
Trabzonspor are closing in on a deal to sign Mohamed Salah after he became a free agent following his exit from Liverpool this summer.
Salah, 34, spent nine years at Liverpool, winning the Premier League twice, the Champions League, and the FA Cup among other honours. He was strongly linked with a move to Saudi Arabia before talks with Trabzonspor advanced.
Reports suggest Salah is set to sign a contract until 2028. He would become the biggest name to join the Turkish Super Lig club in their history.
Besiktas had previously been in the frame for Salah's signature, but Trabzonspor are understood to have moved ahead in the race. An official announcement is expected in the coming days once the final details are confirmed.
